A huge solar flare erupted Thursday from the sun and reach Earth this weekend. This will very likely lead to a strong geomagnetic storm and cause the auroa borealis, also known as the Northern Lights to be visible across much of the province.
The night to view will be Saturday night. The forecast for much of the province is calling for mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.

When the geomagnetic storm slams into Earth it could cause voltage irregularities and false alarms on some protection devices. It may also cause high frequency radio blackouts and radio contact to go down on the sunlit side of Earth.
You’ll likely know it has arrived because of the Northern Lights arriving in the skies over much of Canada. The light show will also extend over much of the United States and Europe. Those who live the southern hemisphere will also get to see the aurora australis, also known as the Southern Lights.
