Update: According to officials: So far, 600,000 litres of gas has leaked from one of the facilities tanks and they are waiting resources from Halifax to assist with the cleanup. There is no immediate risk of explosion.
Neighbouring streets to the Imperial Esso Storage facility in the north-end of Sydney, Cape Breton have been evacuated due to a fuel leak at the tank farm according to the Cape Breton Regional Municipality and the Cape Breton Regional Police.

Citizens are being asked to avoid the area and respect the perimeter set up by emergency crews.
