Canada Day arrives this Saturday, and our fingers are crossed the weather cooperates.
There are plenty of events happening throughout Nova Scotia, but two Canada Day events we have been asked most about are the Halifax Harbour Snowbirds airshow and fireworks.
Halifax Harbour Snowbirds Airshow
The Canadian Forces Snowbirds will perform over Halifax Harbour on Canada Day from 12:00 P.M. until 12:30 P.M. There is also a scheduled rehearsal flight on Friday, June 30. If the Canada Day airshow is cancelled due to weather, it will happen Sunday June 2.
During the performance, and rehearsal flight on Friday, June 30, residents are advised that a marine exclusion zone will be in place. The exclusion zone will be in place for the following dates and times:
- Friday, June 30: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Saturday, July 1: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Sunday, July 2 (rain date only): 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ferry service will be be paused at 11:30 A.M. and resume at approximately 1:00 P.M.
Halifax Harbour Fireworks
Canada Day fireworks return for the first time since 2019 and are scheduled to be shot from a barge in Halifax Harbour on July 1 at 10:00 P.M.
Best views will be at the Foundation Wharf Canada Day stage and Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park Canada Day stage. You can catch live entertainment at these locations and the fireworks as the finale! HRM also recommends the Queens Marque area and Sands at Salter Canada Day stage for good viewing, but most locations on the Dartmouth and Halifax waterfront will be great.
We will announce cancellations due to weather or burn bans here.
