Netflix is launching a new basic, low-cost subscription plan in Canada and it will only cost $5.99 per month. The hitch is, you’ll have to sit through some advertising.
Subscribers who take advantage of the new pricing plan will be subject to 4-5 minutes of advertising per hour. Most of Netflix’s library will be available on the basic with advertising plan, but a limited number of movies and TV shows won’t be available due to licensing restrictions, which Netflix says they’re working on.
As far as picture quality, streaming will be limited to HD up to 720p. Users will not have the ability to download titles for offline viewing.
The plan will become available in Canada on November 1 at 1:00PM Atlantic, a couple of days before being introduced in The United States and a handful of other countries.
You can sign-up on the Netflix website.
