State Of Emergency Lifted In Victoria County – Only Travel When Necessary: Officials

The Municipality of the County of Victoria has lifted the county-wide State of Emergency.

“Residents of Victory County are being advised they may now move about for necessary travel only and discourage people from visiting damaged areas as this may cause dangerous situations and / or impact repair and emergency crews from doing their jobs.” the Municipality said in a release

There are still roads and bridges that are washed out and impassable. Middle River, Ingonish, Neil’s Harbour / New Haven and secondary roads in Tarbot are still affected and they ask citizens to follow signs or authorities on site at these locations.

Neil’s Harbour and New Haven area water supply is at a critically low level and is under a boil water advisory. Residents are being asked to conserve water. Crews are working to identify and repair damage to the water system.

Municipal facilities in the area will remain closed for the day and updates for waste collection remainder of the week will be updated later today.
