The majority of Canadians will have November 11 off work so they are able to reflect on past wars and the sacrifice of Canadian service members.
In Nova Scotia, which businesses can open is dictated by The Remembrance Day Act. If a business is permitted to operate on Remembrance Day, they are required to follow rules including pausing operations from 10:59 until 11:02 AM. If a business fails to follow the rules, they can be fined up $15,000.
The Government of Nova Scotia has a simple online tool that will tell you whether your employer or business can open on Remembrance Day. You can use the tool here.
