What is now Subtropical Storm Nicole is forecast to strengthen into a Category 1 Hurricane before it makes landfall in Florida on Wednesday.
It is too early to say what exact impacts the storm will have on Nova Scotia but the system will not be comparable to Fiona. The storm will likely be post-tropical or a remnant low by the time it makes its way into our region on Saturday.
The track will determine who sees higher wind gusts and rain amounts. The forecast will become more clear Wednesday into Thursday.
A reminder that hurricane season runs through the end of November.
