Correction Note: A previous version said tomorrow’s payment is double. It is in-fact an extra one-time payment.
The Government of Canada says to support those most affected by inflation, they are issuing an additional $2.5 billion through GST credit payments to help more than 11 million Canadian individuals and families.
“This one-time payment will double the GST credit amount eligible individuals and families receive for a 6-month period.” says the Federal Government on their website.
If you qualify for GST payments, the credit will automatically be deposited Friday, November 4, 2022. You don’t need to submit anything except must have filed your taxes. If you do not have auto-deposit set up, cheques will be mailed-out Friday.
You could receive a maximum extra one-time payment of up to:
If you are single
- $234 (no children)
- $387 (with 1 child)
- $467 (with 2 children)
- $548 (with 3 children)
- $628 (with 4 children)
If you are married or have a common-law partner
- $306 (no children)
- $387 (with 1 child)
- $467 (with 2 children)
- $548 (with 3 children)
- $628 (with 4 children)
The maximum credit is paid to households that had a net income under $39,826 in 2021. The credit amount decreases if your income is more.
