You Can Banish The Ghost From Deadman’s Island On This Haunted Halifax Tour

Launching this July in Nova Scotia is A Ghost Outing: Halifax from the tour company Adventure Drives. Teams will compete in a quest to banish the ghost from Deadman’s Island.

Teams drive to four stops including Herring Cove and a haunted cemetery, to charge up their “Spectre Collector” and practice their ghost busting skills. This exciting adventure is a combination of escape room, scavenger hunt, geocaching and The Amazing Race wrapped up in one great game. Bonus points and real time feedback are given for the level of creativity in the photo/video challenges at each stop.

What makes this event different from other ghost tours is the level of personalization. The team becomes part of the story which is based on the soldier buried on Deadman’s Island in Halifax Harbour.  Augmented reality and other ghost busting apps add an extra spooky twist to the experience.

“We’re hoping to give teams a fresh approach to the ghost tour idea.” said Phillip Reilly from Adventure Drives. “By using your car, teams can go to really interesting yet haunted locations for a completely different ghost experience.  Adding local history through our audio stories creates a new way of experiencing the area while still getting some thrills and chills. We throw in some cool ghost hunting apps but the main focus is team interaction with each other.”

Travel writer and Nova Scotian, Sarah Stewart (Adventure Seeker Sarah), has participated in several of the Adventure Drives activities in Ontario and recently took part in the Ghost Outing: Halifax.

This is such an awesome way to get out and have some fun with your family or a cool group of friends,” says Stewart. “Of all of the outings I’ve been on with Adventure Drives, I actually think the Halifax adventure is the best – the story is awesome and the locations are pretty cool! I’ve been all over Nova Scotia and they managed to route me to several locations that I didn’t even know existed.”

Adventure Seeker Sarah also had a tip for those looking to take part – “Creativity gets you extra points, so I always tell people that it’s in their best interests to bring children or your weirdest friends for your team!”

A Ghost Outing: Halifax launches July 16th running select days throughout the summer and ramping up to even more outings during the Halloween season. This is a fantastic way to get out and explore the city in a fun, spooky way as family, work team building exercise, date night, or activity for a fun-loving group of friends!
