Fiona Has Left Heavy Damage In Its Wake As It Begins To Pull Out Of Nova Scotia – State Of Emergency In CBRM

Post-Tropical Cyclone Fiona is pulling out of Nova Scotia but many warnings remain in place including Hurricane and Storm Surge Warnings for the eastern mainland and Cape Breton.

Residents of the Cape Breton Regional Municipality are being asked to shelter in place. A State of Emergency is declared. A Red Cross shelter is set up at Centre 200. If you are in danger call 911 to be evacuated.

Victoria County is also under a State of Emergency and residents are being asked not to travel.

Fiona made landfall between Guysborough and Canso at about 4:00AM Saturday morning.

Large waves and storm surge are an ongoing threat as Fiona pulls away.

According to Nova Scotia Power’s outage map, some customers may not see power back until Thursday or possibly later.
