As of today, December 16 at 11am the Province of Nova Scotia has removed the tolls for Nova Scotia registered vehicles using the Cobequid Pass.
“Our government promised to remove tolls on the Cobequid Pass, and today it became a reality,” said Premier Tim Houston. “Tolls will remain for non-Nova Scotia passenger and commercial vehicles, ensuring that we keep this important transportation corridor maintained to the highest standard.”
The Province says there is no plan to increase tolls for other vehicles using the highway which opened in 1997.
If your vehicle dose not have the transponder that allows it to pass through without stopping, you will need to stop at the booth to prove the vehicle you are driving is registered in Nova Scotia.
You can apply for a transponder here.
An average of 7,600 cars and 2,100 trucks use the Cobequid Pass daily. Around 50 percent of the passenger vehicles that use the highway are registered out of province. Near 70 percent of the commercial trucks that use the highway are registered out of province.
