Now Any Nova Scotian In Need Of A Family Doctor Can Sign Up For Virtual Care

All Nova Scotians on the Need a Family Practice Registry can now get free, online medical appointments through VirtualCareNS.

Previously, you needed to receive an e-mail invitation, but now anyone on the Need a Family Practice Registry can register for VirtualCareNS. Upon registering you will be able to have online appointments with a family doctor or nurse practitioner, until you can be served by a practice in your community.

There are about 150 to 200 virtual appointments available each weekday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and on Monday evenings until 7 p.m.

Sixty-one primary care providers deliver care through VirtualCareNS. Fifty-four are family doctors and seven are nurse practitioners. More providers are being recruited

If your health concerns cannot be resolved virtually, you will be provided with options for in-person care.

To use VirtualCareNS, you must live in Nova Scotia, be without a primary care provider and be on the Need a Family Practice Registry. You can get on the registry here or call 811.

Once on the registry, you can visit here to book an appointment with VirtualCareNS.

VirtualCareNS is delivered using Maple, one of Canada’s leading virtual-care platforms, by doctors and nurse practitioners licensed and located in Nova Scotia.
