Halifax just set a record! The largest ship to ever visit Canada, according to the Port of Halifax, has arrived in the big harbour. It is currently docked at the South End Container Terminal.
CMA CGM Brazil measures 1,200 feet long and to gain some perspective on that, it’s the length of eight Bluenoses. Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador is just over 150 feet long.
If standing stern to bow, it would currently be the tallest structure east of Toronto’s CN Tower.
The container ship, which arrived late last night, has a capacity of 15,072 twenty foot containers.
“This is a significant milestone for our Port City Halifax and for Canada.” said the Port of Halifax on social media.
