Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for all of Nova Scotia.
They say that significant wind and heavy rain are expected in the province beginning Wednesday night and lasting into Thursday morning.
Forecasted wind gusts of 80-100 km/h are possible with even stronger costal gusts. Total rainfall looks like 40 – 60mm with local higher amounts possible.
“Very strong southerly winds will develop late Wednesday in advance of a vigorous cold front. The passage of this front will also bring intense rain in a fairly short period of time. Ponding/pooling on roadways may occur. Strong winds may toss loose objects (decorations) and cause tree branches to break. Isolated utility outages may occur.” Environment Canada said.
Now is a good time to prepare your home and yard if you have any Christmas decorations that may need to be taken down.
