Special Weather Statement Has Been Upgraded To Rainfall Warning For Some

The Special Weather Statement issued earlier today by Environment Canada has been upgraded to a Rainfall Warning for those in Richmond and Cape Breton counties including Sydney and outlying communities.

Rain will be heavy at times and continue throughout the day and night. Tonight expect 15-25mm of rain with total amounts of 50-60 mm for the weather event.

Heavy downpours can cause flash flooding and pooling of water on roads according to Environment Canada.

Special Weather Statement

Other areas of Nova Scotia are under a Special Weather Statement where rain will continue today, possibly heavy at times with total amounts of 25 to 45 mm. Higher local amounts are possible.
