Colin and Justin are international interior designers, style commentators, Hollywood celebrity interviewers and the most unique title they claim, owners of Point of View Suites in Louisbourg, Cape Breton.
They let it slip online that they were over the moon excited that Heather Rankin was the host of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation’s recent fundraiser which they were to attend.
“You could have assembled Lady Gaga, Madonna and Kylie in front of us, and we wouldn’t have been NEARLY as excited…” said the celebrity designers.
When they bought the seasonal hotel in the community known for its 18th Century Fortress, they were feeling uneasy about gambling on the remote seasonal hotel they purchased.
“Would we be able to balance our Toronto, Haliburton and Glasgow existence with a project so utterly left of field?” said Colin and Justin on Facebook. “Had we completely lost our marbles?”
According to the duo, when they bought Point of View Suites they inherited a broken CD player with a Rankin Family disc jammed inside. They got around to buying a new player in 2021 and that album and the song North Country played in a literal loop across their 100 day breakfast schedule at the Inn.
“New to us at the time, The Rankin Family grew in our affection and we’ve subsequently bought loads of their back catalogue.” said the duo.
Colin and Justin contributed prizes for the auction at the hospital foundation fundraiser which included entertaining two groups and brunch for both when they rebrand their hotel North Star Suites. Their contribution raised $8,000 for the worthy Cape Breton cause.
