Chantel Scott was in for a big surprise when she visited a Sobey’s location in London, Ontario.
She picked up a package of Compliments Spring Mix and found, believe it or not, a frog (still alive) allegedly sealed in the package.
““It’s still alive! Holy sh!t,” Scott said as she examined the container.
“I handed the mixed salad to an employee who took it to the manager.” said Scott on Instagram. “I asked employees if they were releasing the frog and they said yes after they file a report they would release it to the local pond up the street.”
The frog was apparently a Northern Leopard frog which is very common in parts of Ontario.
“Quality assurance and food safety teams are currently working to better understand what may have led to this unusual situation.” Sobeys said in a statement to Global News. “We want to assure customers this is an isolated incident.”
“We have protocols and processes in place related to handling and distributing fresh products to ensure quality products are provided to our customers.”
