LakeCity Works is a non-profit organization in Dartmouth, NS which supports individuals living with mental illness. For 40 years they have supported their clients as they pursue their goals to learn new skills, access education and find employment.
Each year, LakeCity Works runs a fundraiser to generate support for their client programming. Their programming includes manufacturing beautiful solid wood furniture, producing outdoor furniture from recycled plastic, property maintenance services, computer refurbishment and so much more.
The Urban Cabin Fundraiser
You can help support LakeCity Works by purchasing tickets to win the first in their new line of urban cabins. This is an additional room disconnected from your house. Their urban cabins are specially designed, insulated units, their clients help build. They allow you to make use of outdoor space to create an addition to your house.

The cabin is 8′ x 12′ with a front veranda, porch and it even features a loft. There are so many ways you can outfit the cabin. You could create the ultimate sports cabin with a television, sports memorabilia, and a mini-fridge for your thirst needs. It could be the ultimate play room for your kids or grandchildren. Maybe you’re looking for a pool house or the most beautiful centre piece to any urban garden.
“LakeCity is well known for our innovative fundraisers and this year we’re launching our new line of urban cabins.” said Sophie Eld of LakeCity Works. “With the affects of the pandemic and the changes in the housing market we saw that people need more space. Our urban cabins are a great solution to give Nova Scotian’s more space without having to move and are ideal for a home office, kids playroom or hobby space.”

The estimated value of the top prize is $22,000.
“Our urban cabins use the same building techniques as our micro homes, the units we designed as affordable housing solutions. We’ve been increasingly concerned about the lack of affordable housing and wanted to be part of the solution.” said Eld “Whether we’re building urban cabins or micro homes we’re creating employment opportunities for our clients while delivering great products for our community.”

Tickets are sure to go fast. They are $25 each or you can score a deal when you buy five for $100. Tickets are on sale until all are sold or 11:59PM on March 15, 2022.
