Nova Scotia Health says the QEII Health Sciences Centre is experiencing serious overcapacity issues. They note that this issue could result in long waits for patients in the Halifax Infirmary emergency department.
It isn’t expected to clear up soon. Nova Scotia Health says the conditions are likely to continue through the long weekend.
They remind those who may need to visit the emergency department that they should not hesitate to visit the QEII if experiencing an emergency. Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911.
Nova Scotians who are on the Need a Family Practice Registry can now access VirtualCareNS, which provides free, temporary access to primary health care. VirtualCareNS is not an emergency service.
