Some In Nova Scotia May Get To See The Northern Lights On Friday Night – See Who Here

A huge solar flare has erupted from the sun and is reaching Earth this weekend. This could lead to a strong geomagnetic storm and cause the auroa borealis, also known as the Northern Lights to be visible in areas of the province.

The best night to view will be Friday in particular areas of Northern Cape Breton and along the Northumberland Shore. Head for a dark area away from city and town lights. Look north and you may get to see them.

According to the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Nova Scotia is on the cusp of the viewing area but our neighbours in New Brunswick and PEI are almost guaranteed to see the show weather depending.

Many living in the southern hemisphere will get to see the aurora australis, also known as the Southern Lights.
