Look up (but with proper eye protection) on April 8, 2024 for what is being dubbed The Great North American Eclipse, The solar eclipse will only be visible in its entirety for a few in North America and some of those lucky few will be in Nova Scotia.
The solar eclipse will be visible across Nova Scotia, but not in it’s entirety. The only place to see an absolute total eclipse will be in Northern Cape Breton when it is thrown into four minutes of darkness. The remainder of Nova Scotia will see 90% or more of the sun covered.
Our province has experienced a few partial solar eclipses but Nova Scotia hasn’t experienced a total eclipse of the sun since July 10, 1972.

Some may actually fly their lear jets to Nova Scotia, to see the total eclipse of the sun, like in the popular song You’re So Vain by Carly Simon.
The Meat Cove Campground and Cape North Lighthouse will be two popular places that day.
