Youth Hockey Player Facing Charges Including Assault With A Weapon Following After-Game Altercation In Halifax

Halifax Regional Police say they have charged a youth in relation to an alleged assault that occurred at the HRM 4-pad Arena in Bedford last week.

Police say they received a report of an assault which allegedly occurred on February 11 at the 4-pad arena on Gary Martin Drive. According to Police, during the game two youths, who were players on opposing teams, were involved in a physical altercation.

After the game, when leaving the rink, one of the youths allegedly struck the other with their hockey stick. The victim was taken to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

A 17-year-old youth is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial youth court at a later date. They face charges of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
