VIDEO: Halifax Noon Gun Fires For First Time Since March #BOOM!!

It is like the siege of the city has ended. We have fought a battle and are winning for the time being.

Halifax Citadel’s cannon fired everyday at noon for years until this previous March, when it was silenced by COVID-19. Today it fired for the first time since a silence fell over the city.

It is rumored that when Halifax hosted the G7 Summit in 1995, The United States Secret Service hadn’t been informed that a cannon fired everyday from Citadel Hill. When it happened, U.S. President Bill Clinton was rushed into his limousine and the Secret Service drove as far as Peggy’s Cove before the all clear was given.

Welcome back to the Noon Gun. #BOOM
