The administration team of Sydney Academy has reached out to inform families that water damage caused to the school after this past weekend’s extreme cold temperatures are still being repaired and cleaned up.
It is unclear when students can return to the building and it has been announced they will switching to virtual online learning on Thursday, February 9.
“Virtual learning is not new to us.” said the Sydney Academy administration team. “We have done it before under different circumstances. Staff and students have the skills and equipment necessary to make this work and I am confident this is the best way to ensure there is no interruption to learning and to maintain student wellbeing. Classes will meet through Google Classroom/Meets and student schedules will remain the same.”
Students who do not have Chromebooks at home for learning will be able to pick one up at the Teen Health Entrance at Sydney Academy on Wednesday, February 8, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. If a Chromebook pickup is required, families are asked to contact CBVRCE Operations at (902) 563-5400.
The letter to parents says some students will be contacted directly based on individual program needs.
Parents with concerns or questions are asked to reach out to their children’s teacher or a member of the administration team.
