Police Issue Over $120,000 In Tickets At Halifax Residence After Noise Complaint

Halifax Regional Police issued summary offence tickets at two addresses last Friday for failing to comply with Health Protection Act regulations. The total amount in tickets at one address exceeded $123,000.

At approximately 7:45 PM, Halifax Police received a report of loud noise from a gathering at a residence. Upon arrival police found the event to exceed the gathering limit set by the COVID-19 public health directive.

Officers issued summary offense tickets to 51 people under the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with regulations. Each receive a hefty fine of $2,422.

Earlier that day, at approximately 3:50 PM, police received a report of loud noise from a different gathering at a residence. This gathering also exceeded the gathering limit set by COVID-19 public health directives. Two 18 year old men were issued summary offence tickets under the Health Protection Act for failing to comply with regulations. Each ticket carries a fine of $2,422.
