RANKINGS: Nova Scotians Wait Longer To See Doctors At Walk-In Clinics Than Just About Anywhere Else In Canada

According to Medimap’s Walk-In-Clinic Wait Time Index, Canadians were waiting on average 37 minutes to see a physician at walk-in clinics last year. Nova Scotians on the other hand, were waiting a lot longer than most fellow Canadians.

The index collects data from the majority of walk-in clinics across Canada. It shows the average wait time across the country increased in 2022.

“The drastic increase in average wait times at walk-in clinics provides further evidence that healthcare systems across the country are struggling to provide adequate care,” said Thomas Jankowski, CEO of Medimap.

Nova Scotia saw the longest average wait times in the index. Patients had to wait an average 83 minutes to see a doctor at a walk-in clinic in 2022, which was 39 minutes longer than in 2021. This increase was also the largest year-over-year increase. Ontario had the shortest wait to see a doctor at 25 minutes.

The longest average wait in Nova Scotia to see a doctor at a walk-in-clinic was in Dartmouth. That wait time was 117 minutes.
