Fans took to social media to voice their displeasure with what they saw take place at the game and how security handled a situation reportedly to have revolved around a sign that said “You quit, we quit.”

Security reportedly asked for the sign to be put away, but the fans Nova Scotia Buzz spoke with said the melee broke out when the sign came back after the match and security once again asked for it to be put away.

Nova Scotia Buzz was told fans chanted “This is our club” and were ordered to disperse by security. When that didn’t happen, reported pushing and shoving began between fans and security.

After meeting with parties involved the Halifax Wanderers says together with their groups of supporters they will be opening official chains of communication between security and supporter leadership.

“Win lose or draw; we must ensure that interactions between our fans and stadium staff remain respectful” said Halifax Wanderers President & Founder, Derek Martin. “We will keep a close eye on how these changes impact the stadium environment and continue to evolve these policies as needed”

There will be periodical meetings between support groups and the Club to address concerns and communicate policies.

Finally, the Club says policies regarding signage will be clearly laid out on the team’s website.
