Daylight Saving Is This Weekend And We Will Gain An Extra Hour Of Sunlight – Turn Your Clocks Forward

The majority of Canadians, including those in Nova Scotia, will turn their clocks forward by one hour this coming weekend. Daylight saving time occurs at 2:00 AM on Sunday, March 12 and we will gain a much deserved extra hour of sunlight after a dark winter.

While many devices connected to the internet such as mobile phones will automatically adjust, most traditional clocks, including many bedside alarms, will not. Be sure to adjust the time when heading to bed on Saturday night if you are depending on these to wake up on Sunday.

Abolishing daylight savings is a topic of discussion in many provinces. Some have even passed legislation to scrap the practice. Ontario’s legislature passed a bill called the Time Amendment Act that could make daylight saving time come to an end. The Province is waiting until its neighbours do the same. Ontario shares many federal government offices with neighbouring Quebec and valuable trade with neighbour New York.
