UPDATE
RCMP have determined the suspicious device sitting on a trail in the woods in Greenwood, is not an explosive. The device was determined to be a container used in geocaching recreational activities.
Kings District RCMP are investigating a suspicious incident on a trail near Oak Avenue. and Fales River Drive. in Greenwood, Nova Scotia.
Police say at approximately 9:50 AM this morning, they responded to a report of a suspicious device sitting on a trail. RCMP officers have secured the area and evacuated nearby homes as a precaution. For those who were physically unable to evacuate, police advised them to shelter in place.
Nova Scotia RCMP explosive experts are currently on route to the scene to examine the device and safely dispose of it.
Road closures
- Fales River Dr. has been closed at the intersection with Argus Dr.
- Argus Dr. has been closed at the intersection with Carol St.
- Oak Ave. has been closed at the intersection of Carol St.
Police are asking the public to avoid the area.
