The wildfires that have been raging through Shelburne County for several days show no signs of relenting, as evacuation zones continue to expand. In response RCMP are actively assisting with evacuations and patrolling the affected areas to ensure the safety of residents.
RCMP issued a warning, urging people to refrain from traveling into the Shelburne and Barrington areas unless absolutely necessary. The situation has already prompted the evacuation of approximately 40% of the county’s residents, as the fires create smokey conditions and severely limit visibility across many parts of the county.

Sections of Highway 103 have been closed, along with additional road closures in effect throughout the affected areas. RCMP say those living in communities subject to mandatory evacuation orders must comply and leave their homes promptly. Returning home will only be permitted once it is determined to be safe to do so.
