Best Actor Oscar Winner Brendan Fraser Reveals His Family Roots Come From Nova Scotia

At this year’s Academy Awards it was no surprise when Brendan Fraser took home the Oscar for Best Actor for “The Whale”. He also made history as the first Canadian to take home the award.

Fraser, who has deep Nova Scotia roots, plays a shut-in professor looking to connect with his estranged daughter in “The Whale”.

Critics and fans are calling this time “The Brenaissance” after Fraser was out of the spotlight for several years and is now resurging on the acting scene.

On February 27th, Fraser was a guest on the “Smartless” podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes. In the episode Fraser is talking about his family’s roots announcing his father hails from the Maritimes and his mom was a cowgirl in Saskatchewan. The hosts do a bit more digging and Fraser says his dad is from CBI in Nova Scotia.
