UPDATED: A Person May Have Died During A Theft From A Nova Scotia Power Sub-Station In Pictou County

Stellarton Police are investigating a sudden death that occurred this morning, February 7th in Stellarton.

Stellarton Police say at approximately 8:00 AM they responded to a report from Nova Scotia Power employees of a deceased male located behind the sub-station on North Foord Street. The Nova Scotia Power employees were searching for the source of a power disruption when they located the male. The identity of the deceased male has not been confirmed at this time.

“Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this very difficult time,” said Dave Pickles, Chief Operating Officer, NS Power. “Unfortunately, this is a grave reminder of just how dangerous the theft of copper wire can be. We are cooperating fully with the Stellarton Police as they investigate this devastating situation.”

According to what Sellarton Police Chief, Mark Hobeck told CTV News, police are investigating the incident as a possible theft.
