Environment Canada has issued Winter Storm Warnings for Sydney, Cape Breton County and Victoria County. Residents of this area can expect up to 15cm of snow.
“Snow will begin near noon and become heavy at times this evening. The snow is expected to change to freezing rain near midnight.” says the Warning. “Freezing rain is forecast to end Monday morning.”
They are also suggesting people consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Environment Canada issues Winter Storm Warnings when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together.
Special Weather Statements have been issued for Richmond County and Inverness County – south of Mabou where around 10 cm of snow is expected.
