A couple of weeks ago, one would have never thought the liquor stores in Newfoundland & Labrador would be closing, but here we are, times have changed. The Newfoundland Liquor Commission announced that stores would be closing on Saturday, March 21.
Many Newfoundlanders are making light of the situation online, saying they think of the liquor store as an essential service.
This announcement follows PEI’s lead of closing their liquor stores. Some Islanders now find themselves jammed in lines to stock up at the Island’s outlets making it hard to observe social distancing.
Please note that Corporate NLC Liquor Stores will be closed to the general public as of Saturday, March 21. NLC is working on a solution to allow customers to order via phone and email and pick up at specific stores. Please visit https://t.co/1xB9LUrC2C for additional information

The NLC is working on a solution to allow customers to order by phone and email and pick up at specific stores.
The Nova Scotia Liquor Commission issued a tweet today saying they remain open, although with reduced hours. They add, if you have symptoms, not to shop at their stores.
We will continue to operate our stores on reduced hours – 11 am to 7 pm for all customers, 10-11 am for seniors Mon – Sat and closed Sundays. We have no plans to change that at this time. If you have symptoms that include fever and cough, please do not shop in our stores.

Some are speculating online that the announcement from the NLC is going to cause a rush to Newfoundland liquor stores.
@DKingBH Do you think this will cause a riot when they shutdown Newfoundland liquor stores? https://t.co/INzZCPoCiC
