From Cape Breton University
COVID-19 has presented universities across the country with many challenges. As we continue to navigate the situation, the success of our students and the health and safety of our campus community remain our top concerns.
We have decided that the Fall 2020 semester at Cape Breton University will be delivered completely online. It is important to make this decision now, to provide time to adapt our operations and maintain our commitment to providing an exceptional student experience.
The decision to move to online learning was not an easy one to make, but it is in the best interest of our campus community’s safety. While this decision changes the way in which our students’ education is delivered, it does not change the standard to which that education is held. Online delivery, when done with adequate planning, can be a very robust and engaging learning experience. That is our goal and that is how we will spend the next three months.
We continue to work closely with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness to ensure our response is informed by the Chief Medical Officer of Health for Nova Scotia. We will reopen campus facilities when we are directed to do so.
We know you likely have many questions, and we are working hard to work out all of the details. We want you to feel supported during this unusual time and want to hear from you as well. We will keep you updated as more decisions are made. Please keep an eye on your email and check www.cbu.ca/covid-19 regularly.
