Halifax Regional Police have confirmed they are investigating a homicide following an incident that occurred earlier this afternoon at the Halifax Shopping Centre. According to the police, they responded to a distress call around 5:05 p.m. concerning an injured person located in the parking lot of the retail center at 7001 Mumford Road.
Upon arrival, authorities found a male youth with severe injuries. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Shortly after the incident, at approximately 5:25 p.m., police apprehended two suspects on a Halifax Transit bus in the vicinity of North St. in Halifax. The suspects identities and charges have yet to be released by police.
The Halifax Regional Police have stated that this is an ongoing investigation and further details will be released as they become available. They are maintaining a significant presence at the scene and expect to be there for an extended period.
