Travel Alert: Threats To Close Nova Scotia / New Brunswick Border Over COVID-19 Restrictions

If you plan on travelling from Nova Scotia to New Brunswick or vise versa on January 23 or 29, you might want to postpone or travel early.

A border protest is being organized over Facebook and calling for people including truckers to gather and shut down travel between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The date of the supposed protest is January 29, 2022.

There is another event being advertised to take place at the border on January 23, 2022. Its advertised as blocking the right lane only.

If travelling between Nova Scotia on January 23 or January 29, you may experience delays.

The border shutdown is being advertised in a larger Facebook group that is organizing what is called Freedom Convoy 2022. The group is calling on truckers and more to travel to Ottawa from each coast of the country to protest COVID-19 restrictions.

Some of the promotional material supplied by the group says they are parking their vehicles in Ottawa until restrictions are lifted.

The group organizing the planned convoy to Ottawa has raised over $300,000 on GoFundMe for fuel, food and lodging for participants.
