National Parks Set To Partially Reopen Across The Country For Local Residents

Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has announced that as of the beginning of June, some national parks will partially reopen in Canada.  Nova Scotia has two national parks.

This is so people in the area can use green spaces and trails where physical distancing is possible. “Getting fresh air is important but we all have to be responsible about it,” Trudeau said.

We touched base with the Cape Breton Highlands National Park and were told, “Cape Breton Highlands National Park will be taking the steps to start to re-open in the coming weeks.  At this point we do not have a date for our opening.”

We are waiting to hear if Kejimkujik National Park will be included. but our fingers are crossed.

The Province of Nova Scotia has already opened its provincial parks as of May 1. Social distancing must be practiced at all times. Some services and areas remain off-limits such as beaches in provincial parks.

Provincial campgrounds remain closed but some private campgrounds have opened to summer residents that have permanent RV’s on site.
