Cruising Is Back – Nova Scotia Ports Could See Over 200 Visits From The Luxury Liners In 2022

Cruise ships are once again permitted to visit Canadian waters and to dock in our province’s harbours.

According to the website Cruisedig.com the Port of Halifax is currently scheduled to see 130 visits from cruise ships this summer bringing tourists back to a waterfront that has been lacking in visitors since the beginning of the pandemic.

The same return is being planned for Sydney, Cape Breton where, according to Cruisedig.com who provide cruise schedules 83 ships are scheduled to dock aside the city’s giant fiddle.

According to the Port of Halifax, cruise ship visitors are a a significant economic driver in Atlantic Canada. The industry contributes to thousands of direct and indirect jobs in the tourism sector. The Halifax Cruise industry contributes an estimated $165-million annually according to the most recent economic impact study into the Port of Halifax.
