Reports indicate that the National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players Association have reached an agreement not to send its players to the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
According to The Toronto Star’s Chris Johnson, the NHL and players made the agreement this afternoon and now have to finalize it with the International Olympic Committee.
Three Nova Scotian NHL stars, Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon and Brad Marchand were likely to be on the stacked Canadian men’s Olympic Hockey team.
The report comes after the league announced it would shut down for its holiday break early and pause play due to COVID-19 outbreaks in the league.
