On Tuesday evening, Halifax Regional Police arrested a male and female in the Woodside neighbourhood of Dartmouth in relation to offences that occurred in RCMP territory last week. The offences are alleged to have involved someone who they call a “prominent health official.”
The arrests were made in relation to an ongoing criminal investigation which is led by the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation.
Police did not specifically name Dr. Strang, but the arrests come after a group of protesters gathered outside the personal residence of Nova Scotia’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Robert Strang on Sunday night.
The protesters were believed to be with a group who call themselves “Freedom Nova Scotia” and broadcasted the protest on their Facebook group. They had with them an image of Nova Scotia hanging from a noose and some pranked called Strang’s home until 2 am.
Premier Tim Houston condemned the protests and said steps could be taken to prevent future protests outside the homes of health officials.
