Patients At Shelburne Hospital Have Been Evacuated Due To Approaching Wildfires

All Roseway Hospital inpatients have been evacuated and the site is closed due to threat of the encroaching wildfires.

Fifteen inpatients are being transferred to South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater and Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg. Some patients were transferred to sites inside and outside of Western Zone while others were discharged.

Affected patients and their families have been advised of the temporary move.

“This is a rapidly evolving situation and the safety, care, and comfort of patients and staff remains a top priority.” said Nova Scotia Health in a release. “Planning for the possible transfer of patients has been underway for several days and was set to be implemented at the first sign of imminent danger.”

Roseway Hospital emergency department will be closed and other services at the site halted until the situation changes and the safety of patients and staff can be assured.
