Nova Scotians Were Paying $0.65 Per Litre For Gasoline On This Day In 2020 – How Times Have Changed

According to a gasoline price tracking website Gas Buddy, Nova Scotians were paying an average of 64.6 cents per litre for Regular gasoline on March 2, 2020

Statistics Canada said fuel was the cheapest it had been since 2008 due to the first international attempts to slow the spread of COVID-19. There was less transportation happening worldwide which reduced the demand on gasoline. The price of oil had dropped significantly due to decreased demand on refineries and a short-term oversupply of crude oil

At the time Ultramar was offering Nova Scotia frontline workers $10 off tanks of gas as a thank you for fighting the pandemic. Many frontline workers with smaller vehicles filled their tanks for as little as $15.

As of today, March 2, 2022 those in the Halifax area filling their tanks can expect to pay a record high 156.5 cents per litre and it’s even more outside of the city.
