Many in the Halifax area were awoken last night to the sound of a low flying airplane. An El Al Israel Airlines flight bound for Tel Aviv from Newark, New Jersey made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport shortly after 11pm.
The emergency landing was after pilots declared an emergency and reported smoke in the cockpit. On route to Halifax the Boeing 777 dumped fuel over the ocean to reduce landing weight.

People around Halifax posted photos of the low flying plane as it was out of the ordinary for a plane to be flying that low. Residents from Dartmouth and Sackville expressed concern and posted photos and videos online as seen above.
