Hospitals Overcrowded This Week Across Nova Scotia And The Waits Are Long

Nova Scotia Health says it is experiencing high patient volumes this week at hospitals in all zones. If you need to visit the emergency department, your wait may be long.

“We appreciate your continued patience.” says Nova Scotia Health.

If you are in Cumberland County, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre is experiencing staff shortages and overcrowding in inpatient units.

People needing less urgent care are could visit Parrsboro Urgent Treatment Centre at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, All Saints Springhill Hospital’s Collaborative Emergency Centre, and the Urgent Treatment Centre at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Pugwash.

You should not hesitate to visit the emergency department if you are experiencing an emergency and anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911.

They ask if you require non-urgent care, please call your family doctor or visit a walk-in clinic.

Nova Scotians may also make an appointment for non-life-threatening illnesses or injuries at Urgent Treatment Centres, now open in several locations.

General health advice and information can be obtained by calling 811, which is a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.

The provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167.
