The family of Allison Holthoff is the beneficiary of a GoFundMe set up by her cousin on the popular crowdfunding website.
“We are beyond shock and heart break for the loss of such an amazing woman in all of our lives.” says Erin McIntyre, Allison’s cousin. “We are looking to raise a little money to help Gunther be able to take time off work to grieve with his children Hayden, Holly, Heidi and his family”
According to reports from the family, Allison arrived at the emergency department around 11:00AM. After being in the fetal position and her husband telling staff she was getting worse, it took Allison four hours to receive a room with no monitoring equipment. Allison’s cries for help were answered around 6:00PM and vitals were taken. Not long after, a code blue, which is called when there is cardiac arrest, would be paged.
“I want to assure all Nova Scotians we remain committed to and focused on fixing our healthcare system. We will act on what we learn from this investigation, and we will continue to act on what we’re hearing from healthcare workers, communities and Nova Scotians.” said Michelle Thompson, Health and Wellness Minister.
An investigation by Nova Scotia Health into Allison Holthoff’s death has started. Its results will be shared with her family.
