Environment Canada has just issued Freezing Rain and Rainfall Warnings for parts of Nova Scotia.
Areas under Freezing Rain Warnings include northern Nova Scotia and western Cape Breton.
“A short-period of freezing rain is expected later this evening before temperatures rise and precipitation changes to rain.” says Environment Canada. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
Total amount of freezing rain will be up to 5mm.
Rainfall Warnings has been issued for the Halifax area, southern and western areas of Nova Scotia.
“Rainfall, combined with melting snow, is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.” the warning says. “Rain, at times heavy, is expected tonight. The rain is expected to taper to showers or flurries Tuesday morning. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.”
Total rainfall will be around 25mm.
