Emergency Alert Issued By EMO For Two Counties On Cape Breton Island

An emergency alert gas issued to Inverness and Victoria counties by Nova Scotia’s Emergency Management Organization. It tells residents to avoid travel until further notice. Heavy rains over the last 24 hours have caused flooding in the area.

“Due to the severe weather, travel is no longer safe. A number of roads have washed out or are severely damaged.” read the alert, which appeared on mobile phones around 11:00 PM.

Victoria County had already pleaded with residents to avoid travel on roads and declared a State of Emergency.
