Notable brands from across Canada and even the world are embracing grey haired women and introducing marketing campaigns highlighting the hair colour.
All of this comes after Bell Media cancelled Lisa LaFlamme’s contract as chief anchor of CTV News. LaFlamme had let her hair go grey during the pandemic which was allegedly questioned by the same CTV executive who ended her contract.
Restaurant chain Wendy’s Canada posted to social media, “Because a star is a star regardless of hair colour. #LisaLaFlamme #NewProfilePic.” They changed Wendy’s iconic hair colour from bright red to grey.
Dove Canada quickly jumped on prior to Wendy’s saying women with grey hair are being edged out of the workplace. They also donated $100,000 to a Canadian organization that helps build inclusive workplaces for women.
Dove Canada encouraged followers to turn their profile grey and #KeepTheColour
Sports Illustrated had made the point months ago that beauty gets better with age featuring 74-year-old Canadian model Maye Musk on their cover. They got in on the social media action sharing the cover again.
Lisa LaFlamme posted a video to Twitter on August 15 saying she was blindsided by Bell Media ending her contract at CTV News after 35 years.
