Sub.-Lt. Abbigail Cowbrough has been identified as a victim of the Canadian CH-148 Cyclone helicopter crash off Greece. The Cyclone was operating with HMCS Fredericton as part of NATO’s Operation Reassurance
Abbigail’s father, Shane Cowbrough posted on Facebook, “I am broken and gutted. Today I lost my oldest daughter Abbigail Cowbrough in the crash involving the Cyclone from HMCS Fredericton. There are no words. You made me forever proud. I will love you always, and miss you in every moment. You are the bright light in my life taken far too soon.”
Regal Height’s Baptist Church in Dartmouth wrote on Facebook, “Our church family has lost a wonderful woman. We are heartbroken to share that Abbigail Cowbrough, who was on board the HMCS Fredericton passed away during a helicopter flight training exercise accident. Our prayers are with her family, and all those who have lost a loved one in this tragic accident. We will surround her family as we walk with them through this and we will keep you posted on ways you can help.”
On April 24, Abbigail posted a video on Facebook and said, “You can travel the world, and still never meet anyone like an East Coaster. Glad to have been taken in by them, for I’d have it no other way
